Terry L. Alston is currently a Health and Physical Education Specialist at Long Mill Elementary School. A proud graduate of Elizabeth City State University, she was inspired to pursue a career in Physical Education after being inspired by her elementary and secondary school Physical Education Teachers. She has been employed with Franklin County Schools for 31 years. In her free time, she can be found working in her church, spending time with her family and volunteering in her community.

Mrs. Brenda Jordan is a native of Ahoskie, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree (K-12). Mrs. Jordan originated from Gates, NC, and currently reside in Raleigh, N.C. She is married to Otis Jordan and they have 2 adult children. Mrs. Jordan is very happy to be a part of the Long Mill Elementary School family. She is currently in her twentieth year of teaching, however this is her tenth year at Long Mill Elementary. Mrs. Jordan has had several careers, however she enjoys the rewarding experience of teaching art to students and watching them learn to create art. Outside of school, she loves spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. During her spare time Mrs. Jordan enjoys church, singing in the choir, gardening, shopping, and traveling .

Mr. Spence has been working with music professionally for over 20 years. His goal is to bring that experience into the classroom and to teach children a love and appreciation for music. He earned his Master’s Degree in Music at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife and two boys live right here in Franklin County.

Mrs. Smith came to Long Mill Elementary in the 2024-2025 school year as a 3rd grade Instructional Assistant. Before coming to Long Mill, she was an Infant/Toddler teacher with The Learning Care Group and with KinderCare Learning Centers. She has 17 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She is passionate about creating a fun, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where students can explore, create, read, and discover. Through the Media Center and STEM instruction, Mrs. Smith encourages students to develop a love of reading while building creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Mrs. Smith is grateful for the opportunity to work with K-5 students and is committed to making the Media/STEM Specials a place where every child feels supported, inspired, and excited to learn.
