Good Morning Families,  

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Long Mill Elementary! 

We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to working with you and your child. As we approach the first day of school on August 24, I would like to share a few important updates and reminders. 

School Supply Lists

Please check our school’s website for Pre-K-5th Grade School Supply Lists. These recommended supplies/materials will be utilized throughout the year. If you have any specific questions, please call the front office or feel free to discuss them with your child’s teacher at Open House. 

Open House 

Open House will take place on Thursday, Aug. 20th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for 1st-5th grade students. During Open House, you will meet your child’s teacher and find out more information regarding:

  • Daily Schedules
  • Breakfast & Lunch
  • Bus Transportation
  • Carpool Numbers

Families will also have an opportunity to support our school by purchasing flavored treats from Kona Ice!

School Information

Our instructional day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Car riders may be dropped off in the carpool line beginning at 7:20 a.m. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria from 7:20–7:40 a.m. Thank you for helping ensure that your child is in their classroom and ready to begin learning by 7:45 a.m. We truly appreciate your support in helping us maximize instructional time and make the most of each school day for students.

Breakfast & Lunch 

All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. Students who would like to purchase additional items, such as chips or ice cream, will need to have funds available in their cafeteria account or bring money to cover the cost of those items.

Before & After Care 

Our school offers Before and After Care for students in Kindergarten–5th grade. Before Care begins at 6:00 a.m., and After Care is available until 6:00 p.m. Please review the documents below for additional information regarding enrollment, fees, program guidelines, and other important details.

Bus Riders 

Parents will be given information about their child’s bus stop at Open House. Be sure to visit the Bus table to receive your child’s information. As a reminder, there may be some delays during the first few days of school. We encourage parents to have their child at the bus stop at least ten minutes before the designated pick-up time. 

*Please note: Parents of Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students must be present or have a designee or older sibling waiting at the bus stop in the afternoon. Bus drivers will not be allowed to release students without a parent/guardian or older sibling present at the bus stop to receive the child. (School Board Policy 6305). 

Pre-K Students

  • Aug. 21 (Event: Popsicles on the Playground | Time: 10:00-11:00 a.m.)
    • Location: Pre-K playground
    • Event Details: Families may report directly to our Pre-K playground, which is located across from the front parking lot. Parents will have an opportunity to meet our Pre-K teacher, Mrs Diaz, and instructional assistant, Mrs. Moody, along with other Pre-K families. Students can play outside on the Pre-K playground and enjoy popsicles with their future classmates. 
  • Aug. 27 (Event: Pre-K Open House | Time: 5:00-6:00 p.m.)
    • Parents will learn more information about the Pre-K program and events throughout the year. We encourage parents to drop off school supplies for their child at this time and discuss transportation (car rider, bus rider, etc.).
  • Sept. 1st (Pre-K Staggered Entry) 
    • Students with last names A-M will have their first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 1st and return to school on Thursday, Sept. 3rd. 
  • Sept. 2nd  (Pre-K Staggered Entry)
    • Students with last names N-Z will have their first day of school on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd and return to school on Thursday, Sept. 3rd. 

Kindergarten Students

  • Aug. 21, (Event: Popsicles on the Playground | Time: 9:00-10:00 a.m.)
    • Location: Main Playground (please check in at front office)
    • Event Details: Parents will have an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teachers and other kindergarten families. Students can play outside on the main playground and enjoy popsicles with their future classmates. 
  • Aug. 24- Aug. 26 Kindergarten Assessments
    • Please use this link to sign up for a time slot. The assessment will take 30-45 minutes. Parents should plan to remain at school with their child to complete a brief questionnaire. 
  • Aug. 27, (Event: Kindergarten Open House | Time: 5:00-6:00 p.m.)
    • Parents will meet their child’s teacher and learn more information about the upcoming school year. We encourage parents to drop off school supplies for their child at this time and discuss transportation (car rider, bus rider, etc.).
  • Aug. 31 - First Day of Kindergarten
    • Kindergarten students attend school daily from 7:45am-2:30pm. Students may begin arriving in the carpool at 7:20am.

Sept. 1- Pre-K students with last name A-M attend school from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Sept. 2- Pre-K students with last name N-Z attend school from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Sept. 3- All Pre-K students attend for the first full day 7:45-2:30 p.m. 

 Sept. 7- Holiday (No School)
